Auch im SAP-Umfeld ist die Kommunikation über das HTTP-Protokoll nicht mehr wegzudenken. Angefangen beim Internet Transaction Server (ITS) über Business Server Pages (BSP) und WebDynpro für ABAP (WDA) bis hin zum aktuellen Fiori (oder besser SAPUI5) hat die SAP konsequent auf diese Frontend-Technologie als Alternative zum herkömmlichen SAPGUI gesetzt.

Während allerdings bei den älteren Techniken der Backend-Entwickler in der Regel nicht wissen mußte, wie die Oberfläche im Frontend programmiert werden mußte, ist das bei den modernen Techniken anders. Fiori oder SAPUI5 setzen zumindest Grundkenntnisse in der Webprogrammierung voraus.

Dieser Kurs bietet einem ABAP-Entwickler einen ersten grundlegenden Einstieg in die diversen Techniken. Nach einer Erläuterung des HTTP-Protokolls und der Erklärung der Ansprache eines SAP-Systems über HTTP, werden HTML und die beiden HTTP-Inhaltsprotokolle XML und JSON näher beschrieben. Es folgt die Funktionsweise von CSS und – als Herzstück des Kurses – eine Einführung in JavaScript.
