Das ABAP Data Dictionary dient nicht nur dazu, globale Vorlagen (also Typen) für mögliche ABAP-Variablen zu verwalten, sondern hat auch speziell für die Kommunikation mit der dem SAP-System zugrunde liegenden Datenbank eine entscheidende Bedeutung.
In diesem Kurs geht es darum, diese Schnittstelle zwischen ABAP und Datenbank genauer kennenzulernen und zu verstehen. Kernthema sind die Definition von Datenbanktabellen im ABAP sowie die Optimierung der Zugriffe auf diese Daten. Spezielle Tabellen (wie Pool- oder Clustertabellen) werden vorgestellt und auch ein kleiner Blick in die zukünftigen Datenbankzugriffe unter S/4 HANA über Core Data Services (CDS) gewagt. Die Beschreibung von (physischen) Datenbankviews und (logischen, d.h. SAP-spezifischen) Projektions- und Pflege-Views vollenden diesen Kurs.
