SAP HANA Advanced Modeling CoverDear Reader,
Currently all new features, technologies and tool stacks being offered by SAP, evolve around its central platform SAP HANA. SAP HANA is an in-memory database offering a large number of possibilities for modeling reports based on SAP HANA information views and creating analytic environments. Even though SAP HANA runs in-memory, this does not implicitly mean that every implementation in SAP HANA returns query results within milliseconds.

We have seen low-performing SAP HANA based solutions and have been faced with lots of architectural, as well as organizational questions around the introduction of SAP HANA. For these reasons, we decided to write SAP HANA Advanced Modeling. It offers valuable guidelines, best practices for designing and optimizing your data model, and SAP HANA information views. It covers topics like operational vs. analytic reporting (including SAP HANA Live), agile and distributed development methods, common test approaches and finally modular solutions to complex modeling problems.

We hope you enjoy reading this book and that it will be a helpful guide for your SAP HANA project.

Yours Sincerely,

Benedikt, Stefan and Dominique
